All About Us
Founded in 1994 by Jesse James Thomas, Legacy Acres Ranch was built on five acres of Texas soil, faith, and hard work. With his own hands, Jesse crafted 18 horse stalls so local families could have a safe, welcoming place to ride and care for their horses. Before long, the ranch expanded — leasing 16 acres from Houston Light & Power Company, now known as Centerpoint Energy, to wide open green pastures for grazing and trail rides.
Today, Jesse’s descendants continue that legacy — honoring our faith, our animals, and our community. Through the Jesse James Trail, we share the spirit of the Black Cowboy, the beauty of God’s creation, and the joy that comes from working with the land and the creatures He blessed us with.
Here, history rides side by side with hope — and everyone is welcome to saddle up and be part of the story.

Cowboy/Cowgirl Experience
Saturday and Sunday from 9am - 4pm
Advance Booking Required
From $65 per person
Step into the boots of a cowboy or cowgirl with a one-hour, hands-on experience at Legacy Acres Ranch. Learn the basics of horsemanship as our cowboys and wranglers guide you through grooming and saddling your horse before taking a beginner-friendly ride around our 20,000-square-foot riding yard. No experience is required, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture memorable photos and videos along the way.
